Herbert Ball, Sr.

Herbert Ball, Sr., 83, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010. He was born to Arthur Lee and Roxanna Dorsey Ball on September 6, 1926, in Berclair, TX. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He married Helena Arabella McKinney on July 26, 1948, in George West, TX. Herbert was a cattle rancher and manager for 53 years for Farish (Lazy F) Ranch. He was a member of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, American Quarter Horse Association, South Texas Hereford Association, Goliad Fair and Rodeo Association, and Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Arabella McKinney on June 4, 2003; parents, Arthur Lee and Roxanna Dorsey Ball; sister and brother-in-law, Raliegh and Alice Lawrence; and brothers, William Ball, Iris Ball and Alton Ball. He is survived by sons, Herbert Ball, Jr. and wife Mary Beth of Skidmore, TX, Richard Ball and wife Kathy of Goliad, TX, John Ball and wife Virginia of Victoria, TX, and Clay Ball and Brenda of Goliad, TX; granddaughters, Mary Kay Bielamowicz, Clara Wood, Lauren Ball, and Megan Scherer; grandsons, Stephen, Justin, Cody, Wesley and John Robert Ball; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Ball, Emmie Scherer, Alysen Ball, Faith Ball, Nina Wood, Jay Ball, and Jack Ball; and brother, Wilbur Allen Ball of Waco, TX. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Galloway & Sons Chapel with Rev. Patrick Donohoe officiating. Interment will follow at Gussettville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stephen Ball, Justin Ball, John Robert Ball, Michael Wood, Cody Ball, Wesley Ball, Justin Bielamowicz and Brandon Scherer.
