Ida Mcguffin

Ida Clarice (Matheson) McGuffin, 93, of Beeville, died Saturday, June 19, 2010. Mrs. McGuffin was born on Feb. 28, 1917, in Live Oak County to Ida Thresa (Willms) and Bartley Verley Matheson. She married James R. McGuffin Jr. in Beeville on June 9, 1936. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Garden Club and Home Arts Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James R. McGuffin Jr. on Feb. 1, 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Ida Mary (Wayne) Dirks and Betty Jan McGuffin, both of Beeville; a son, James Robert (Janet) McGuffin III of Round Rock; a sister, Anna Verlin Luthringer of Karnes City; a brother, Glen Billy Matheson of Live Oak County; five grandchildren, David, James and Keith Dirks, Mary Clarice Dirks Hudson and Roberta Claire McGuffin; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted there at 10 o'clock Thursday with Rev. John Stults officiating. Musical selections will include "Amazing Grace" and "In the Sweet By and By" with organist Louise Mayberry. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
