Irene Chessher

Irene Christine (Nelson) Chessher, 94, of Pettus, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

Mrs. Chessher was born May 10, 1919, in The Colony near Normana, Tx to Charles O. and Myrtle Irene Davidson Nelson. She married D.L. Chessher on Dec. 7, 1937, in Beeville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pettus.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband in 1978; siblings, Madge Parker, Richard Nelson, Marie Shifflette, Lora Lee Jenson and Carl Nelson.

Survivors include her sons, David Lee Chessher Sr. (Brenda Dale Gallagher) and Charles Edward Chessher; grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne Chessher and David Lee Chessher Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Audrey Murch.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at Beeville Memorial Park with Vernon Andrews officiating.
