James Waymon Staples, Sr., 87, passed away on January 30, 2014. He was born April 4, 1926 in Tuleta, TX to Walter Ross and Olabelle (Taylor) Staples. He served with the 5th Air Force in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He married Evie Hall on April 24, 1948 in Karnes City, TX. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tuleta, TX and an independent oil producer and a rancher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Olabelle Staples and brothers, Walter Edward Staples, Tommy Floyd Staples, and Robert Lee Staples. He is survived by his wife, Evie Staples; sisters, Gladys Staples Herod of Beeville, TX, Anniebell Staples Cooley of Shreveport, LA, Cordelia Staples Sparks of Brenham, TX, Velma Staples Kossa of Orange, TX; brother, Ted Staples of Tuleta, TX; son, James W. Staples, Jr. (Patricia) of Tuleta, TX; daughter, Cheryl Staples Heil (Kurt P. Heil, Sr.) of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Jess W. Staples (Laura) of Tuleta, TX, Loretta Mabe (Jason) of Cestohowa, TX, Kurt Paul Heil, Jr. of Brownfield, TX, Heather Harlan (E.C.) of Brownfield, TX, Crystal Ries (Ronnie) Fort Worth, TX; and great grandchildren, Taylor, Ross, Maclaye, Dexter, Kaycee, Tel, Charlotte, and Ryder. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville, TX. Interment will follow at San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna, TX. Pallbearers will be Jess W. Staples, Jason Mabe, Ronnie Ries, Kurt P. Heil, Jr., E.C. Harlan and Dennis Campos. Honorary pallbearers will be Gery Herod and Thomas Bryant.
