James "Jim" Wallek, Jr., 83, passed away on March 9, 2016. He was born on July 27, 1932, in Beeville, to Jim and Julia (Sugarek) Wallek. He married Era Maude Case on November 24, 1951, in the First Baptist Church in Beeville, and they were married almost 63 years. Jim resided in the Olmos Community most of his life, before moving to the Clareville Community in 1964. He was baptized by Pastor Pat Traxler of the Brush Country Cowboy Church and witnessed family and friends. He was a member of the Deputy Reserves of the Bee County Sheriff's Department for many years and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a farmer most of his life until 2010, and ranched until his death. He never got on a horse, but loved to rodeo with his daughter and granddaughter. He also loved baseball and was on the 1948 Olmos Cowboys baseball team and loved to watch his great-grandchildren play baseball. He is preceded in death by his parents and his love of his life, Era. He is survived by three children, Mary Anne (Jack) Linney, Jo Anna (Cliff) Davis and Kenneth (Pat) Wallek; six grandchildren, Kristofer Linney, Jacob (Jennifer) Linney, Desaree Linney (Kyler) Wilson, Mandi Jo Fox and Clayt Gohmert, Dustin (Danielle) Wallek and Cheryl Wallek; eight great-grandchildren, Addison, Jace, Laikyn, Kolton, Keithan, Caleb, Ethan and Lucas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
