Janis Bluhm

Janis Coquat Bluhm, 68, of Three Rivers, passed away on January 19, 2015 after a long battle with kidney disease. She was born September 2, 1946 in Denton, Texas to Joseph Alexander Coquat and Janet (Musick) Coquat. After graduating from Tuloso Midway High School in Corpus Christi, she attended Mary Hardin Baylor University and received a Bachelor's degree in Speech and Drama. She married Lynn Bluhm on January 2, 1968 in Bryan, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in George West. She taught for a short while with Three Rivers ISD though was a substitute teacher for many years. She was a certified National Master Level and International Level 1, USA Track and Field Official and was former Chair of the South Texas Association. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her nephew, Liberty Hoehne. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Lynn Bluhm of Three Rivers; two sons, Alan Dale Bluhm of Three Rivers, and Cory Wil Bluhm of Bryan; two grandchildren, Peyton Bluhm and Christopher Bluhm both of San Antonio; one brother, Dr. Joe Coquat and wife, Jacqueline of Oakville; two sisters, Noma Sheffield of Riviera; and J'Vone Woodward of New Braunfels; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bluhm of Meadowlakes; and numerous nieces and nephews, including: Freedom Suarez, Austin Sheffield, Justin Coquat, Jonette Coquat, Jolee Woodward Cornelius, Brian Woodward, Rob Bluhm, and Scott Bluhm. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in George West, Texas. The Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oakville Cemetery in Oakville, Texas.
