Jerry Kolb

On March 2, 2017, our beloved friend, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and devoted Christian, Jerry Neil Kolb, age 74, crossed over to join God, his heavenly family and friends. Though he bravely fought to stay with his family, Jerry knew he needed to arrive in heaven early, to make sure everything was in order for when the rest of us arrive, as he was so apt to do.

Jerry and his twin brother, Perry Kolb, were born August 28, 1941 to Ben and Lottie Kolb in Pineville, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin, Perry Kolb, sister, Fannie Lou Moore, and brother, Frank “Joe” Kolb. He is survived by his wife, Linda Kolb, son, Kerry Kolb of Houston, Texas, daughter, Lori Kolb of Cedar Park, Texas, and the apples of his eye, his two grandchildren, Michaela Munoz, of San Francisco, California, and Briana Kolb of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is also survived by his sisters, Christell Grant, Audrey Catteruccia, Betty Lacoy, and brothers, Benny Kolb and Tommy Kolb, and 23 nieces and nephews.

Jerry grew up in Louisiana and joined the military after high school. While in the Navy, Jerry met Linda Auman, of Lena, Illinois, at Daytona Beach, Florida. They were soon married several months later on October 6, 1962 leading to 54 years of marriage.

Jerry spent 12 years in the Navy including time in Vietnam. Within two years Jerry and Linda’s family became complete when they joyfully welcomed their son, Kerry, and daughter, Lori, into the family. The family lived in Meridian, Mississippi, San Diego, California, and Northern Illinois.

Jerry and Linda laid roots in Beeville, Texas January of 1977. They became members of the First Baptist Church of Beeville in October of 1978. Jerry, his wife, Linda, and two children, Kerry and Lori were graciously baptized altogether at the First Baptist Church of Beeville on October 29, 1978.

Jerry’s civic memberships include: Past Master Masonic Lodge 32 Degree, Beeville Country Club, Scottish Rite Member, and City Councilman in Pearl City, Illinois.

Jerry was a successful insurance agent, starting at James Brooke Insurance Agency in Beeville. He eventually opened a branch office in Goliad, Texas, the Goliad Insurance Agency. He earned numerous awards and trips that allowed him and Linda to travel globally. He retired in 2007 but continued to work inspecting businesses for insurance companies.

Jerry Kolb also leaves behind many special lifelong friends and extended families. He touched many lives in the Beeville area. A light-hearted jokester, he was very happy in his journey, and shared his grace with as many people as he could. He loved his Windmill Emmaus Community and enjoyed serving on numerous walks.
