John Brundrett

John William "J.W." Brundrett, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 17, 2010. He was born on November 26, 1917, in Tuleta, Texas to J.E. and Ora (Nutt) Brundrett. He was one year old when his family moved to Normanna. He is the last of the Brundrett and Nutt family, early settlers to Normanna. He was a very talented man. He fell from a windmill tower at the age of 15 and lost his right arm, but he could do anything he wanted to do. His hobby was to make beautiful things from wood. He raised large pigeons, rabbits, cattle, and he worked for Bee County, Hardy Motors and Donoho Refinery. He was a member of the Normanna Baptist Church, and also served as usher of Tuleta Baptist Church several years. In 1963, he married Sydonie Nolen. He is survived by his wife, Sydonie Brundrett of Normanna, Texas; step-children, Ethyel Jo (George) Eilers of Kenedy, Texas, Lealand (Jeanette) Nolen of Rosenberg, Texas, Lawrence Freddy (Judy) Nolen of Pettus, Texas, and Annette Riley of Dickinson, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifton (Pete) Brundrett; Edward (Buster) Brundrett and step-daughter, Linda Jo Alford; and sister, Lura Turner. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, at Galloway & Sons Chapel. The funeral service was conducted there at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, with Rev. Brian Simon officiating. Interment followed at Mineral Cemetery. "Old Rugged Cross" and "Sweet By and By" were the musical selections provided by Lynn Broadway and Roy Cox. Pallbearers were Buddy Hardy, Gary Philipp, Stephen Murphy, Kenny Walker, Wayne Isaacs, Stephen Brundrett, and Clyde Fox. Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Brundrett, Weldon Brundrett, Raymond Brundrett, and also men from Donoho Refinery, Normanna Fire Department, and Hardy Motors.
