John Carroll McCurdy, 82, of Beeville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving children.
John was born December 13, 1941, in Beeville to William O. McCurdy Jr. and Doris (Teas) McCurdy. He was a 1960 graduate of A.C. Jones High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. In July 1962, he married his sweetheart, Linda Hausmann, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and retired in 1997 from Koch Refinery.
John lived a life filled with laughter and joy and was gifted with a very creative mind. His fine pieces of art, drawings and paintings amused and brought much joy to many. He was also a cartoonist. He had a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to the faces of all who knew him. His witty remarks and contagious laughter brightened the lives of everyone around him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris McCurdy; a brother, Bill McCurdy; a sister, Marjorie McCurdy; and his beloved wife, Linda McCurdy, who passed away in 2019.
Left behind to cherish fond memories of their loving father include two daughters, Jennifer L. McCurdy of Spicewood and Emily Carol McCurdy of Farmington, Minnesota; a son, Daniel Clark McCurdy of San Antonio; and a nephew, Casey McCurdy. The bond he shared with his children was one characterized by love, support, and endless laughter.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 25, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 26, at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Conklin officiating.
Burial of cremains will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 9, in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
