John Porter "Rich" Richardson, 88, of Beeville, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Graveside services, with full military burial honors were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Glenwood Cemetery, (Hefferman St.), Beeville, Texas. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Galloway & Sons, 409 N. Tyler Street, Beeville, Texas. John "Rich" was born on August 12, 1923, in McKinley, Pennsylvania, to Edward and Charlotte Porter Richardson. He married Elizabeth "Beth" McClendon June 27, 1957, in Pensacola, Florida. He was retired from both the U.S. Navy, Lieutenant Commander, in 1963, and Army, Rank of Major, in 1968, and Civil Service, NAS Chase Field. He was very active with his time and support to the Lions Club, and he served as District Governor from 1990 to 1991, and was inducted into the Texas Lions Club Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Ethel; and his brother, Edward. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Beth Richardson; and step-son, Eugene (Terry) Brown III. Survivors include his daughter, Janet (Raymond) Church of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons, Jerry (Barbara) of Richmond, Texas, and Jon (Melissa) Richardson of Beeville, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Chris, Vanessa, Josh, Brent, Stephen, Amanda, Justin and Sierra.
