John Steele

John Saunders Steele, 84, passed away on January 3, 2015. He was born January 16, 1930, in Kingsville, Texas, to John S. and Ethel (Parrish) Steele. He married Margaret (Peggy) Griffin on August 18, 1951, in Seguin, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force. Afterwards Mr. Steele worked as a deputy with the Bee County Sheriff's Department. He then worked as a policeman in San Antonio, Texas. John also worked at NAS Chase Field Civil Service until he retired. He then worked and retired after five years with the prison system. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Peggy) Steele; daughters, Sharon Horton, Gaye Bailey (Daniel), Joy Cunningham (H.A. Reed), and Elizabeth Moron (Chon); grandchildren, Jason Saunders Hardin, Chon Richard Moron (Mikka Dee), Shane Cunningham, Cody Moron, Jason Baker, Jared Horton, Curtis Bailey; sister, Patsy Uzzell (Bobby); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Steele; and brother, Gentry Steele. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chon Moron, Jr., Matt Steele, Shane Michael Cunningham, Chon Richard Moron, Jason Saunders Hardin, Jason Baker and Jared Horton.
