John Taylor

John Wilbur Taylor, 95, went to be with his Lord on February 1, 2012. He was born on July 28, 1916, in Beeville, Texas, to George Ernest Taylor and Essie Belle Rankin Taylor. He graduated from Beeville High School and joined the United States Navy shortly after high school. On July 20, 1939, he married Evie Dean Glasson, and they made their home in Corpus Christi, TX. Wilbur worked as Area Production Supervisor for ARCO Oil and Gas, from which he retired from in 1985. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, as a member of the Board of Trustees and as chairman of the building committee. He was a longtime member of the Beeville Country Club. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Bowman; and a brother, George Wayne Taylor. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 72 years, Evie Dean Taylor of Beeville; daughter, Kathy Young and husband Richard of Beeville; four grandchildren, Steve Orchard and wife Robin of Calallen, Keith Orchard and wife Abi of Pflugerville, Kevin Young of San Antonio, and Lindsay Young of San Antonio; also three great-granddaughters, Sydney Orchard of Calallen, Taylor Orchard and Meridith Orchard, both of Pflugerville. Visitation was held on Saturday, February 4, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service to celebrate Wilbur's life was held on Sunday, February 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church.
