Josephine "Jo" (Pace) Moore

Born December 4, 1930, in Fairport, New York, Josephine “Jo” (Pace) Moore of Austin, Texas died on November 26, 2024. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Bartolotta) Pace; her husband, Donald Moore; and a sister, Rosalind (Pace) Bommele.

Jo is survived by her children, Daniel (Cindee) Moore, David (Cheri Dee) Moore of George West, Texas, and Susan Moore (Pablo Guerrero) of Austin, Texas and Ecuador; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one sister, Margaret (Pace) Lausin; a nephew and niece, Neil (Lynne) Bommele and Joan Bommele, and two grand-nephews, all of Fairport, New York.

Jo was valedictorian of the 1949 graduating class of Fairport High School and a 1953 graduate of Nazareth College (now Nazareth University) of Rochester, New York. She worked for several years as a laboratory technologist at hospitals in Rochester, New York, and later in Corpus Christi, Texas. After moving to George West, Jo took a position as a lab technician with U.S. Steel. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2012. 

Jo was a warm and attentive friend, an accomplished cook, an avid reader and a formidable opponent in games of Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. She was a talented, amateur artist, and a lifelong lover of classical and operatic music. She traveled widely in both the United States and Europe.

A quiet graveside ceremony will be held at St. George Cemetery in George West, Texas. Donations may be made in Jo’s name to Hospice Austin (a non-profit organization) or St. George Catholic Church in George West, Texas.
