Josephine Nicholson

Josephine Marie (Hoefer) Nicholson, 80, of Beeville, died Thursday, April 7, 2011. Mrs. Nicholson was born Dec. 1, 1930, in St. Louis, Mo., to Thelma Kennedy and Walter Hoefer. She was the owner and operator of Ruth Davis Retail Shop and worked for Galloway Photography. She was a member of First Christian Church and the First Presbyterian Church handbell choir. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Nicholson III; a brother, Peter Hoefer; and a sister, Minerva Hamilton. Survivors include her husband, John F. Nicholson of Beeville; two daughters, Leigh Nicholson-Finn of Beeville and Jody (David) Holt of Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.; a son, Bruce Nicholson of Houston; six grandchildren, Megan Finn, Trisha Madden, Nichole Hooper, Denton Holt, Shawna Buffum and John "Nikki" Nicholson IV; a brother, Walter Hoefer of Deming, N.M.; an aunt, Dixie Rummler; a cousin, David Rummler; and an uncle, Donald Hoefer. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with Rev. Geraldine Huckman officiating.
