Joyce (Farmer) Herzog, born in Arkansas in 1933, the daughter of Chester Lee Farmer and Willie (McWhorter) Farmer, passed away May 26, 2024, in her home in Skidmore, Texas. Joyce married James Charles “Ace” Herzog in 1952 and the couple moved to Skidmore that year.
She had a passion for reading, solving crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and going to the movies but most of all, being there for her children as their homeroom “Mom” during all school activities. She made all holidays a special occasion for James Jr. and Charlene as well as for their classmates. She was known for her selflessness and caring nature toward others. Joyce's proudest accomplishment was always putting the needs of others before her own.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, James Charles Herzog, Jr. of Skidmore; a daughter, Charlene (Herzog) Mattingly of Skidmore; six grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
