Juan Solorza, 89, of Beeville, died Monday, June 6, 2011. Mr. Solorza was born May 5, 1922, in Skidmore to Maria (Morales) and Pedro Solorza. He married Concepcion Avalos in Corpus Christi on May 22, 1949, and served in the U. S. Army. He was retired from Civil Service at NAS Chase Field Public Works and was a painter. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Maria Solorza; his wife, Concepcion Solorza; a son, Juan Solorza Jr.; a granddaughter, Geraldine Flores; and a sister, Dubelsa Rivera. Survivors include three daughters, Vicky (Israel) Benavides, Josie (Lionel Sr.) Flores and Sylvia S. Reyes, all of Beeville; a son, Pedro (Amy) Solorza of Beeville; nine grandchildren, Tina Juarez, Tammy Earnest, Lionel Flores Jr., James Flores, Juan Ramon Carabajal Sr, Leovardo Carabajal Jr., Pedro Andres Carabajal, MyKaela and Noah; 16 great-grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Irene Rivera and Sara Lopez, both of Alice. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
