Julia (Balerio) Chapa, 85, of Beeville, died Sunday, July 17, 2011. Mrs. Chapa was born June 13, 1926, in Berclair to Lucio Balerio. She married Erasmo S. Chapa Sr. in Beeville on June 4, 1950, and was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 11, 2007; a son, Erasmo B. Chapa Jr.; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Dora Chapa of Beeville; two sons, John (Nora Hassette) Chapa of George West and Joe (Mary) Chapa of Houston; a sister, Lupe (Ruperto) Herrera of Rule; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons chapel. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass was also celebrated there at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Musical selections included "Ave Maria," "The Lord's Prayer," "On Eagles' Wings" and "Precious Memories." Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
