Kathleen Joan Williams, 73, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at her home in Skidmore, Texas, with her loving husband, R.L. Copeland, by her side.
Kathleen was born October 31, 1945, in Baytown, Texas, and was raised by her parents, Emil and Julia (Matula) Hamala, in Houston, Texas. She helped raise her younger brothers and sisters. After graduating from Incarnate Word High School in 1964, she was the provider for her children while working full-time in the accounting field.
She met R.L. Copeland in 1985 in Houston, Texas. While she stayed in Houston, R.L. drove back and forth for 20 years from Skidmore to be with her. In 2007, she came home permanently to live the rest of her life on his ranch in Skidmore. She was a member of the Catholic faith all of her life.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Justin Smith; and a sister, Paulette Hamala.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband, R.L. Copeland of Skidmore; a daughter, Joan Denise (Lonny) Smith of Houston; two sons, Joseph Wayne Wilson of Lubbock and Tim (Michelle) Williams of Houston; siblings, Kenneth (Carol) Hamala of League City, Ronald Hamala of Houston, Carol (Sam) Crimaldi of Fort Meyers, Florida, Annette Hamala of Clear Lake, Texas, Theresia (Paul) Mattern of Houston, Janice (Michael) Glass of Katy, Bernadette (David) Beard of Cypress and Julie Hamala of League City; grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Reed Williams, Rachel Williams and Brittny Smith; great-granddaughter, Avery Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville followed by the funeral service at 1 o'clock with Chaplain John Forbus officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
