Laura Frances Dyer Johnson passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the age of 95, in Beeville, Texas. She was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on November 27, 1917 to Effie Alice (McDonald) and John Wilson Dyer. She was so proud of the fact that she had reached the age of 95 and was not hesitant to tell anyone, even if they didn't ask. She celebrated her milestone birthday with a wonderful gathering of family and friends last fall. Laura married Jesse Lee Johnson in Karnes City, Texas on October 6, 1936 and spent their 73 married years together in Pettus, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pettus. She will forever be remembered for her true devotion to her family and church as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Preceding Laura in death were her parents, her five sisters and two brothers, her beloved husband Jesse, and her precious great granddaughter Laura Caroline Fish. Leaving behind to cherish many loving memories are her son, Jim Johnson and wife Jerry of Houston and daughter Alison Hutchens and husband David of Beeville. Her grandchildren are Claire Morrow of Austin, Jennifer Eggleston of San Antonio, and Heather and husband Jeff Fish of Fort Worth. Great grandchildren, are Adrienne Morrow, Carsyn and Colin Eggleston and Preston, Philip and Marshall Fish. The family would like to extend a very special thank-you to the caregivers at 801 Gramman Assisted Living for all the care and comfort they provided her while she lived there and especially in her final days. Thanks also go to the caregivers from Exclusive Home Health who made her feel very special. Serving as pallbearers were Colin Egglestone, Ray Langley, Lynn Broadway, Jeffrey Fish, Ignacio (Nacho) Vasquez, Bob Winfough, David Chesser, and Philip Bush. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Luther, Ignacio (Nuno) Vasquez, Jr., Alton Meyer and Floyd Wolfe. Visitation was held on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with the funeral service on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend John Sisk officiating. Special music was provided by Lynn Broadway and Roy Cox. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
