Lois Ruth Matkin, 90, passed away on November 16, 2015. She was born on March 28, 1925 in McAllen, Texas to David H. and Mary (Asenbrenner) Garner. She married Reagan Reed Matkin on June 26, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a typing and journalism teacher for the Three Rivers I.S.D. retiring after 31 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Little Acorn Study Club, and Retired Teachers Association. She is preceded in death by her parents, David H. and Mary Garner; husband, Reagan Reed Matkin; sisters, Alice Guinevere Garner, and Dorothy Garner Evans; brother-in-law, Carl Pelt Evans; brother, David H. Garner, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Virginia Copeland Garner. Survivors include her son, David R. (Melanie) Matkin of Three Rivers; daughter, Janet R. (Dean) Keller of Spring Branch; four grandchildren, Garrett (Taylor) Keller of Spring Branch, Reagan Marie (Clayton) Hundley of Castroville, Cody Matkin of Austin, and Emma Matkin of El Paso; four nieces, Ann Stewart of San Antonio, Jean (Ernie) Miller of Cibolo, TX, Jane (Dick) O'Neill of San Antonio, and Joanne (Jay) Bisbey of Austin; sisters-in-law, Joyce Matkin Cox of Irving, TX, and Hoatice Matkin Walton of Whithouse, TX; three great grandchildren, Kendall Keller, Reed Keller, and Dean Hundley. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Three Rivers, TX. Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers with Rev. Vallilea Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.
