Lois Lovelle (Hedrick) Underdown

Our dear mother, Lois Lovelle (Hedrick) Underdown, sadly passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 98. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance.

Lois was born October 4, 1926 in Madill, Oklahoma to James Clarence Hedrick and Lela Anna Lee (Griffith) Hedrick. Her father worked for Magnolia Oil and was later transferred to Pettus, Texas. Lois graduated from Pettus High School. After graduation, the family moved to Kentucky and Illinois. Later Lois moved back to George West to be near her mother and brother. It was there she became manager of Ferguson’s Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lela Hedrick; siblings, Bonnie Lavon Bass, Richard Wayne Hedrick and Robert “Bobby” Layne Hedrick; son, Henry Merle Underdown; and a grandson, Matthew Brandon Fanelli.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include two sons William Robert (Sue) Underdown, Jr. and Harold Norman (Diane) Underdown; daughter, Linda Lois (Anthony) Dueser; her beloved grandchildren, Robin (Andrea) Underdown, Logan (Kim) Underdown, Lacey (Carl) Underdown Wentz, Damian (Lauren) Fanelli, Roman (Kristin) Fanelli, Rebecca (Adam) Charles, Tabitha Underdown and Ross Underdown; and 14 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Adysen, Greenlee, Gideon, Tatum, Reese, Theo, Andrew, Fiebe, Matteo, Dinin, Sienne, Sofia and Emory.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, January 30, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with the funeral service at 11 o’clock.

Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Damian Fanelli, Roman Fanelli, Robin Underdown, Logan Underdown, Lacey Wentz and Carl Wentz.
