Lorraine Drake Lundschen, beloved daughter, sister, wife, Mother and Grandmother, joined her Heavenly Father on April 29, 2010. She was born on November 27, 1918, to Kyle Nichols and Dema Drake in Alice, TX. She was married to Jim Lundschen Sr. of Laredo, TX on January 31, 1940, who preceded her in death after 59 ½ years of marriage. Lorraine dedicated her life to her family and her Catholic faith. She gave tirelessly over 60 years of service to her local church parish, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Refugio Deanery and the Corpus Christi Diocese for which she was awarded the Diocesan Medal of Honor by Bishop Edmond Carmody on February 5, 2006. The recognition for a lifetime of service was truly one of her most cherished moments in life. Lorraine converted to Catholicism at the age of 13 while boarding at the Ursline Academy in Laredo, TX and began her avocation of faith. She served the Vigil Society, Junior Altar Society, Parish Council, National Council of Catholic Women and Mardi Gras Ball Association in numerous capacities, not only locally, but also at the area and Diocesan level. She championed the Annual Burse Club since its inception over 26 years ago. The Burse Club raises funds for the education and formation of Seminarians to become future priest of the Diocese.
