Louis Massengale

Louis Wayne Massengale, 90, passed away on November 14, 2013. He was born on April 23, 1923 to L.W. and Fannie Copeland Massengale in Pettus, Texas. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1942 and received a bachelor of business arts degree from Texas A&1 in University in Kingsville in 1951. He served in the Air Transport Command during World War II. In 1978 L.W. retired from Exxon Company, U.S.A. after 26 years. He returned to Beeville and opened an office as an independent petroleum landman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and the Hall-Rialto Preservation Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mack Copeland Massengale and Samuel Ernest Massengale; and one sister, Maevis Massengale Chapman. He is survived by his brother, Van E. Massengale (Mary) of Henderson, Texas; nieces and nephews, Erwin Massengale (Lana) of Beeville, Patricia Massengale Ireland, Doris Massengale Kinsey (George) of San Antonio, Linda Chapman Skinner (Rob) of Texas City, Virginia Chapman Rowen (John) of Austin, Deborah Chapman Larson (Mike) of Dallas, Scott Massengale (Tammy) of Bellville, Thad Massengale (Becky) of Spring, and Anne Massengale Miesen (Rob) of Tomball. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Erwin Massengale, Thad Massengale, Scott Massengale, Rob Miesen, Jason McGriff, Wade Massengale, Jack Miesen, and Skeeter Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Kinkler Handly, Fred Jennings, Viggo Gruy, Burt Hause, Johnny Hunter, Joe Hancock, Bill Newsom, John West, Jimmy Jackson, Alex Kibler, H.T. (Hoppy) Nolen, Frank Altamirano, Frank Hause, John Claude Breidenbach, and Edward Wicker. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Texas Children's Home, P. O. Box 1210, Beeville, Texas 78104-1210.
