Mae Johnson

Mae Irene Johnson, 48, of San Antonio, formerly of Beeville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013. Ms. Johnson was born April 7, 1965, in Beeville to Ray and Lena (Johnson) Barefield. She graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1983, then went on to Bee County College receiving a degree in nursing. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and enjoyed writing and her dog, Bootsy. Survivors include her parents, Ray and Lena Barefield; a daughter, Tashina (Robert) Reece; three brothers, C.J. Johnson, Ray (Erika) Barefield Jr. and Todd Tennon; her companion, Ronald Sanders; two sisters, Tony Barefield and Pam Mason; two grandchildren, Synarea and Jeremiah Reece; a list of adopted daughters, grandchildren and friends; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. The funeral service will be conducted there at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
