ATCS Manuel "Manny" "Chico" Sanchez, 63, of Beville, died Friday, June 14, 2013. Mr. Sanchez was born Jan. 31, 1950, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Jennie (Romero) and Camilio Sanchez Sr. He married Norma Noriega in Beeville on May 3, 2001, and was retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was commander of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Coastal Bend Chapter 23-8. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jennie Sanchez; a bother, Camilio Sanchez Jr.; and a granddaughter, Leiahi Rose Sanchez. Survivors include his wife, Norma Sanchez of Beeville; his father, Camilio Sanchez Sr. of Alaska; a daughter, Monet (Emily) Sanchez of Hawaii; a grandson, Alex Sanchez and seven other grandchildren; a sister, Jennie (Greg) Garcia of Alaska; five bothers, Robert Sanchez, Dennis (Cathy) Sanchez and Steve (Magdaline) Sanchez, all of New Mexico, Raymond (Carol) Sanchez of North Carolina and Chris (Barbara) Sanchez of Alaska; step-children, Wendy Hobbs, Donna Lopez, Rene Santana and Johnny J. Santana; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted there at 4 p.m. following visitation with Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Pallbearers were Tomas Gonzales, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 929, the American Legion Post 274, The VFW Post 9170, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Coastal Bend Chapter 23-8 and the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas.
