Marcos Cruz

Marcos U. Cruz, 76, passed away on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. He was born in Three Rivers, Texas on Feb. 22, 1937, to Aniceto and Antonia Urrabazo Cruz, Sr. He was raised in Three Rivers and married Alice Benavides. Marcos was a hard worker and retired after being employed for over 30 years with the City of Three Rivers. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and loved his family dearly. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Ramon Cruz, Cecilio (Chilo) Cruz and David Cruz. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Alice Cruz of Three Rivers; children, Jennifer Cruz, Israel (Dora) Cruz, Norma (Richard) Tanguma, Mary (Alex) Edens, Joe Michael (Samantha) Benavides and Bonnie (Adam) Bleibdrey, all of Three Rivers, and Danny (Angie) Cruz of Cuero; his 11 grandchildren, Eric Cruz, Megan Rae Cruz, Marcus Cruz, Megan Rey Lopez, Shane Edens, Kevin Edens, Christopher Tanguma, Karla (Mario) Dominguez, Karina Tanguma, Jacob Benavides and Brodey Bleibdrey; four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Salomae (Mae) Flores, Paula (Pauline) Garcia and Celia (Mike) Ruiz, all of Three Rivers, Cipriano (Emma) Cruz of San Angelo, Vickie (Arturo) Martinez of George West, Abraham Cruz of San Antonio, Aniceto "Bruno" (Gloria) Cruz of Corpus Christi and Raul (Theresa) Cruz of Leander, Texas. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 from 12 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers. A Holy Rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass to celebrate Marcos' life was held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Three Rivers. Interment followed at the Three Rivers Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Eric Cruz, Joe Michael Benavides, Marcus Cruz, Shane Edens, Christopher Tanguma, Kevin Edens, Jacob Benavides, Claudio Cantu and Johnny Joe Garcia.
