Margaret Ann (Bauman) Moody was called home to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Margaret was born on May 21, 1934 to Bart and Hulda (Hennig) Bauman in Corpus Christi, Texas. She grew up in Corpus Christi, attended Savage Elementary, Robert Driscoll Jr. High and graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1952.
Margaret married Richard J. Moody on April 17, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas. After several years in Corpus Christi, Richard was drafted into the military which moved them to Fort Knox, Kentucky. Their oldest son, Rusty, was born at that time. While Richard was stationed in Germany. Margaret and Rusty returned to Corpus Christi. After completing his service, Richard returned home and joined them there. In the following years, two other sons, Steve and Randal, were born. Throughout this time, Margaret remained very busy. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Sechrist-Hall Company, attended college and raised her family. In 1963, the family moved to Banquete, Texas where Margaret and Richard began their careers in Education. Margaret received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Education from Texas A&I, Kingsville and her Master’s Degree in Business Education from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi.
Margaret and Richard later moved to Three Rivers where she taught Vocational Office Education, then to Karnes City where she taught Jr. High Computer Literacy and later Business Courses in high school. Margaret taught business courses and Vocational Office Education in Banquete, Three Rivers and Karnes City for 30+ years. She also served on the Texas Office Education State Board for V.O.E. Students. During her years of teaching, Margaret served as Cheerleader Sponsor, Pep Squad Sponsor, Yearbook Sponsor, V.O.E. sponsor, and Class Sponsor. Margaret truly enjoyed teaching and she loved her students. She was devoted to teaching her students to be prepared for the “working world.” One of her favorite sayings was: “Be proud of your work; there is dignity in work!”
After retiring, Margaret and Richard moved to Pleasanton, Texas. She spent her retirement years visiting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing board games and card games with her family, bridge with her ladies’ group and traveling with her husband and their friends. They visited so many different countries during their travels.
Margaret was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was very precious and dear to her and provided her great joy and happiness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Hulda (Hennig) Bauman; her siblings, Frances Bauman Moerbe (Wilbur), Norma Bauman Broughton (Wayne), Norma Jean Bauman, Bartley Cornet Bauman (Joyce), Lawrence Hunter Bauman and David Clifton Bauman (Irma); and a great-grandson, Zane Ashton Moody.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Richard J. Moody of Pleasanton, Texas; and three sons, Rusty (Donna) Moody of Needville, Texas, Steve (Mickie) Moody of Iowa Park, Texas, and Randal (Linda) Moody of Three Rivers, Texas.
She is survived by seven grandchildren, Tracee (Brian) Domel and Russell Moody, both of East Bernard, Texas; Heather (Colby) Rusk, Mollie (Lance) Morton and Latham (Carli) Moody, all of Iowa Park, Texas; Wes Moody of Flower Mound, Texas and Todd (Janai) Moody of Boerne, Texas. Margaret is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren. All were very special and greatly loved by Margaret.
Margaret is also survived by her sister, Kathy (Robb) Einhaus of Ottawa, Illinois; her brother, Hank (Sammie) Bauman of Corpus Christi, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 2, with services immediately following at 2 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home, 1600 Laurel Ave., Three Rivers, Texas 78071. Interment will follow at the Three Rivers Cemetery, Hwy. 72, Three Rivers, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Wes Moody, Russell Moody, Todd Moody, Latham Moody, Lance Morton and Brian Domel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Bauman and Robb Einhaus.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully asks that you honor Margaret with a donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
