Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Steele (née Griffin), 84, passed away on April 1, 2017. She was born September 17, 1932, in Hamlet, N.C. to Richard and Margaret (Williamson) Griffin. She married John Saunders Steele, on August 18, 1951, in Seguin, Texas.

She served in the United States Air Force. After her daughters were in school she worked at Sears then worked at NAS Chase Field. She bowled on the Women’s Monday night bowling league for many years. After she quit bowling, she played Bunco with the same group of ladies for 20 plus years.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Horton, Gaye Bailey (Daniel), Joy Cunningham (H.A. Reed) and Elizabeth Moron (Chon); grandchildren, Jason Saunders Hardin, Chon Richard Moron, Shane Cunningham, Cody Moron, Jason Baker, Jared Horton, and Curtis Bailey; sister, Betty Culler and brother, Vernon Griffin; and sister-in-law, Patty Uzzell (Bobby).

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Saunders Steele; her parents, Richard and Margaret Griffin; and brother, Richard Griffin.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jason Hardin, Chon Richard Moron, Shane Cunningham, Jason Baker, Matt Steele, and Chon Moron Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Moron, Curtis Bailey, Daniel Bailey, H.A. Reed and Gary Culler.
