Margie Gertrude (Yarbrough) Bast, 78, of Mineral, formerly of Kingsville, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011. Mrs. Bast was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Whiteflat to Virgie A. Bishop and R. Arthur Yarbrough. She married Curtis Lynn Bast in Kingsville on Aug. 4, 1955, and was a commissioned patrol deputy for the Kleberg County Sheriff's Department and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Virgie (Bishop) Yarbrough; her husband, Curtis Lynn Bast on July 11, 1998; three brothers, Parker Yarbrough, Bennie Yarbrough and Marion Yarbrough; and a sister, Susie Gilliam. Survivors include a brother, Bing (Gloria) Yarbrough of San Antonio; two sisters, Jolyn Haggerton of Uvalde and Beatrice (Wayne) Manning of Latexo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Mineral Cemetery Pavilion. A graveside service was conducted at the Mineral Cemetery at 10 o'clock following visitation with Rev. Steve Curnutte officiating. Musical selections were provided by vocalists Linda Couk, Kelly Aguero and Freda Tolleson and will include "'Til the Storm Passes By," "When All of God's Children Get Home," "Beulah Land" and "Heaven's Balcony." Pallbearers were Edward Lynn "Pee Wee" Sansom, Jacki Lee Sansom, Arthur Sansom, Richard Manning, Milas Williams and Robert Smith.
