Maria Marta (Chapa) Lumetta

Maria Marta (Chapa) Lumetta, 73, of George West, passed away in Corpus Christi on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Maria was born April 9, 1950, in George West and was raised by her grandparents, Marcello and Agapita (Garza) Chapa. She was of the Catholic faith. She married Salvador Lumetta Jr. and worked in the retail industry for numerous years. She enjoyed traveling, gambling and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marcello and Agapita (Garza) Chapa; mother, Mary Chapa Starr; and sister, Cindy Starr Hughes.

Survivors include her husband, Salvador "Sal" Lumetta Jr.; her daughter Michelle Ruiz; son, Robert (Ashley) Ruiz; five grandchildren, Luis Serna, Bianca Serna (Travis "Bo") Preston, Marcella Serna, Kenna Ruiz and Kylie Ruiz; four great-grandchildren, Joleen Preston, Maverick Dunn McCumber, Jackson Preston and Jesseka Preston; brothers, Rene Morin of George West and Eric Starr and Arthur "Art" Starr, both of Escondido, California; sister, Nora Cantu of Groesbeck, Texas; along with numerous aunts, uncle, nieces and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with the Rosary to be recited at 2 o'clock.

Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.
