Marion Smith

Marion Edward Smith, 87, passed away on December 31, 2014. He was born January 6, 1927 in Bonanza, Arkansas to Arrie and Sarah Earlene (Barnes) Smith. He married Lena Mae Reiland on March 24, 1951 in Bruni, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2014. Mr. Smith joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 after graduating from High School and served out the remainder of WWII in Southeast Asia. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Three Rivers, Texas and had retired after 38 years with Exxon in 1986. He was predeceased by one brother, Bill, and two sisters, Flora and Elizabeth. He is survived by his two daughters, Donna (Bill) Appelt of Three Rivers, Texas, and Janis Dean of San Marcos, Texas; one son, Ben (Karen) Smith of Spring, Texas; three grandsons, Robert (Tessa) Smith, William Dean, and Ryan Smith; one granddaughter, Donna Dean; and three nephews. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers, Texas with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.
