Martha Beall Potter (aka Dot Gardner, Dot Trlica, Dottie Potter), 89, died in New Braunfels, TX, on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Dot was born in Beeville to Clifford A. and Ethel Hawkes Gardner, was reared in the Caesar community in north Bee County, and attended high school in Beeville. Dot married Milton J. Trlica in 1940, and they raised three sons, Milton J. Trlica, Jr. (Joe), Warren C. Trlica (Corky), and Lee G. Trlica. Dot worked for the American Red Cross and United Fund in Beeville, the Austin Radiological Association and the San Marcos Phone Co. She married Robert (Bob) Potter in 1972, and they resided in Austin and later in San Marcos. They had a passion for cats and helped establish the PAWS Shelter in Kyle. Throughout her life, Dot enjoyed dancing, home demonstration, sewing, traveling, playing bridge and Texas 42. She achieved the ranking of "Regional Master" in bridge. Dot will always be remembered for her unique sense of humor and a fondness for being blunt. Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lee Gardner Trlica; and all of her siblings: brothers, Bob, Henry, Lefty Gardner, and sisters, Louise (Brown) Wiley, Jackie (Hart) O'Connor and Floss Henry. Survivors include her husband, Bob Potter; sons, Dr. Joe Trlica and wife Gail of Fort Collins, CO, and Dr. Corky Trlica of Austin; daughter-in-law, Jacque Ohl-Trlica of Goleta, CA; grandchildren, Angie Hardley, Camie Prach, Andrew Trlica, Chad Ohl-Trlica, Jeff Trlica and Katy Trlica; four great-grandchildren; nieces, Vernie Smith, Jamie Blum, Sue Adams; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Visitation was from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, at the Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Friends and family were invited to gather for lunch at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Best Western Texan Inn meeting room. A service celebrating Dot's life was held on Friday, September 13, at 3 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Funeral Home followed by interment at the Gardner Family plot at the Glenview Cemetery in Beeville. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to PAWS Shelter and Humane Society, 500 FM 150 East, Kyle, Texas 78640.
