Martha Aleene (Luthringer) Sugarek, 94, of Beeville, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019.
Mrs. Sugarek was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Bee County to Frank and Rosalie (Dickinson) Luthringer. She graduated from high school in Beeville in 1942 and was then employed by Commercial National Bank of Beeville. She married Edward Lee Sugarek on Jan. 19, 1946. They were engaged in farming and ranching, residing in the Central Community in Bee County for their lifetime.
Mrs. Sugarek was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Beeville where she was a devoted Sunday School teacher. She also taught many years at the Presbyterian Preschool. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) earning their honorary life membership award. She served the Presbyterian Women of F.P.C. Beeville as treasurer. She was also an accomplished seamstress, cook and gardener.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Sugarek; a son, Edward Lee Sugarek II; her parents, Frank and Rosalie Luthringer; a sister, Frankie Riggle; and a brother, Blaine Luthringer.
Survivors include three children, Susan Rossow, Mark (Deana) Sugarek and Jennifer (Mark) Dragon; seven grandchildren, Todd Rossow, Kurt Rossow, Stacey Roeschen, Jim Sugarek, Ellen Moritz, Trevor Dragon and Trent Lee Dragon; eight great-grandchildren; as well as cousins and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Meagan Ludwig officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Trent Dragon, Bruce Healy, John Dunn, Paul Looney, Frank Stewart and Gary Williams.
