Mary Ruth Crockett

Mary Ruth Crockett, a beloved figure in her community and a dedicated professional in the hospital sector, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 89. She was lovingly surrounded by her family.

Mary was born July 22, 1935, in McFaddin, Texas to Johann Hans Ossa and Christel (Knoche) Ossa. She was a graduate of Woodsboro High School and later married James “Jimmy” Crockett on June 26, 1954. Mary loved spending time with her family and was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening and partaking in numerous clubs in her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Christel Ossa; and her husband, Jimmy Crockett.

Mary was the cherished matriarch of her family, leaving behind a son, Danny (Pam) Crockett of Bryan; three daughters, Kathy Shultz of Forestdale, Massachusetts; Terri (Mark) Hood of Houston and Sharon (Loye) Eubank of Cypress; and a sister, Esther Sue Miller of Beeville.

Missing their beloved grandmother are her 12 grandchildren, Sarah Davis, Allison (Alex) Noll, Melanie Attaway, Michael Crockett, Amy (Ben) Segrest, Samantha Crockett, Kayla (Brandon) Keith, Kelleigh (Anders) Dexter, Lauren (Matt) Gallard, Hunter Hood, Erick and Jacob Eubank; and 14 great-grandchildren, Victoria and Bishop Davis, Dax and Molly Noll, Payton and Paxton Attaway, Cora, Nate and Oliver Segrest, Madison, Landon and Ava Keith and Kinley and Hadley Dexter.

A graveside service to honor Mary Ruth Crockett will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 27, at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Scott Miller officiating.
