Mary Louise Garza, 89, passed away on March 17, 2017. Mrs. Garza was born September 21, 1927, in Goliad County to Jose and Irene (Towles) De La Garza. She married Gilbert G. Garza in 1952. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Peregrine Society and was a retired restaurant owner. Mrs. Garza and her husband, Gilbert, owned and operated Gilberto’s Restaurant, The Red Torch and The Frontier Inn in Beeville, La Mansion Club in Portland, The Rockport Racket Yacht Club in Fulton and also the cafeteria at The Auction Barn in Beeville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, the late Ella Blanche Pena. Survivors include a son, John Gerard Garza Sr. (Andrea S. Garza) of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, John Gerard (Esther) Garza Jr. of Sugar Land, Jason Garza of Corpus Christi, Patty (Joe) Harper of San Antonio and Irene L. Garza of La Porte; great-grandchildren, Victoria Garza, Savannah Garza, Aiden Garza, Jason Garza, Soleil Garza, Mariah Martinez, Michael Garza, Matthias Garza, Bryan Harper, Colton Harper, Zoe Harper and Skylar Harper; great-great grandson, Ezra Martinez; brothers, Joe De La Garza of Beeville, Leonardo De La Garza of Sugar Land, Wally De La Garza of Victoria; and sister, Rosie Mae Mendoza of Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary recited there that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers will be John De La Garza, Jody De La Garza, Gabby De La Garza, Carlos De La Garza, Joe Harper and Michael Garza.
