Mary Alice Jones

Mary Alice (Peter) Jones, 90, of Swinney Switch, Texas, passed away at Hacienda Oaks of Beeville on Friday, November 15, 2024.

Mary Alice was born June 12, 1934, in Bee County to Edward Peter and Matilda (Faktor) Peter. She married Jimmie Jones Jr. in Beeville in 1952 and was a faithful parishioner of St. George Catholic Church in George West. As a highly respected vice president of State Bank & Trust, Mary was a dedicated professional who touched the lives of many. She was a member of the K.J.Z.T. and the Auxiliary of Swinney Switch.

Mary Alice enjoyed gardening and had a deep love for all animals enriching her life with the joy they brought her. One of her dearest companions was her beloved Pomeranian dog, Max, who filled her days with loyalty and affection.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Matilda Peter; her beloved husband, Jimmie Jones Jr.; a son, Jimmie Edward Jones; and a brother, Lynn Peter.

Survivors include a daughter, Nicole (Jones) Lansford of Swinney Switch; a sister, Kay Martin of Grafton, Vermont; a daughter-in-law, Jeanene Jones of Dinero; five grandchildren, Jimmie E. (Jennifer) Jones Jr., Jeanne (Jodie) Biggs, Daniel (Sasha) Jones, Samantha Lansford and Trey Lansford; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Kathy Martin of Vermont; and two nephews, Doug Martin of New Hampshire and David Martin of Vermont.

A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 2 o’clock that afternoon with Father Romeo Salinas to officiate.
