Mary Wofford

Mary Beth (Marriott) Wofford, 88, of Beeville, died Friday, April 29, 2011. Mrs. Wofford was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Portland to Marjorie (York) and Stephen Marriott. She married Stephen Roderick "Roddy" Wofford and was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Needlework Group from the Methodist Church. She worked for NAS Chase Field Civil Service in the supply department as a purchasing agent and also as a secretary for Judge Seal's office in the Bee County Courthouse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Marjorie Marriott; and her husband, Stephen "Roddy" Wofford. Survivors include two sons, Stuart (Carolyn) Wofford of Swinney Switch and Stephen Douglas Wofford of California; a granddaughter, Monica (Ryan) Wood of Fort Worth; a great-grandson, Blake Wood of Fort Worth; and a sister, Marjorie Williams of Portland. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry McRorey and Vivian Woods officiating. Musical selections by organist Lucille Kinkler and congregational music included "How Great Thou Art," "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and Whispering Hope." Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
