Maurine Davis

Maurine Katherine Guthrie Davis, 102, passed away on December 24, 2012. She was born September 8, 1910 in Berclair, Texas, to Shed Marion and Sophie Matilda (Lutenbacher) Guthrie. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A & I University with a degree in teaching. She married Thomas Worth Davis on August 18, 1939. They lived in the Berclair area until 1939 then moved to Freer and in 1970, returned to Beeville. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beeville and St. Mary's Catholic Church, Freer, Texas. She was a member of Retired Teachers, Altar Society, and Freer Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shed Marion and Sophie Matilda Lutenbacher Guthrie, husband Thomas Worth Davis, daughter Maurine Elizabeth Davis, brother Henry Marion Guthrie, sisters Bernice Walker, Margaret Wilson and Claire Beth Wilson. She is survived by her children, Thomas Worth Davis, Jr. and wife Anne Litchfield Davis, Richard "Dick" Marion Davis and wife Esmeralda "Millie" Gonzales Davis, Katherine E. "Kathy" Macomber and husband John Charles Macomber, and Jeff Paul Davis and wife Chrisgine L.; grandchildren, Thomas Worth Davis, III and wife Kimberly Toland Davis, Meredith Elaine Davis Clem and husband Roger Lee Clem, John Charles Macomber, Jr., Thomas Clifford Macomber and wife Lindsey Levine Macomber; great-grandchildren, Katherine Lillie Davis, Jordan Lewis Andrus, Thomas Worth Barrett Davis, Matthew Ross Clem, and Max Hymie Macomber. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012, at St Joseph Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beeville. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Goliad, Texas. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Worth Davis, III, John Charles Macomber, Jr., Thomas Clifford Macomber, Roger Lee Clem, Logan Dawson Davis, Dan Wilson and Ken Higdon.
