Maurine Duge, 82, of Skidmore died Thursday, June 6, 2013. Mrs. Duge was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Beeville to Gus Edward and Trophinia Margaret (Franks) Mattingly. She married Edward August Duge on June 10, 1949, in Skidmore. Mrs. Duge was involved in Soroptimist Society and several other local service organizations. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Skidmore, where she was married and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Beeville where she was active in Sunday school, youth organizations and the choir. She also joined Peace Lutheran Church in Tynan. She was active in Booster Club and 4-H. She was employed in the legal field with Cox & Cox Abstractors and later served as deputy district clerk for Bee County for almost two decades before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her parents and four brothers. Survivors include two sons, Howard (Yvonne) Duge and Kenneth (Kathy) Duge, all of Skidmore; four granddaughters, Erica Ortego of Austin and Shannon Bartell and Megan and Claire Duge, all of San Antonio; two sisters, Irene Moeller of Plano and Margaret Dancliffs-McCullough; one brother, Tommy Mattingly of California; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation preceded the service at Faith Lutheran Church on Monday, June 10, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore. Pallbearers were James Hanus, Bill Carriger, Mark Koenig, Mark Mattingly, Ike Mattingly, Patrick Mattingly, Robert Mattingly and Henry Moeller. Honorary pallbearers were David Ross, James Duge, Edgar Duge and Tut Buerger.
