Melva Jean (Brandon) Christman, 80, of Normanna, died Saturday, April 2, 2011. Mrs. Christman was born May 5, 1930, in Fox, Okla., to Eunice (Hodge) and Ben Brandon. She married George Henry Christman Jr. in Agua Dulce on June 13, 1953. She was a teacher for 34 years and taught in Pettus ISD, Goliad ISD and Agua Dulce ISD. She enjoyed fishing, painting, sewing and hunting and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Sept. 21, 2008; and a brother, Alfred Brandon. Survivors include a son, Larry Christman of Beeville; three daughters, Susan (Kenny) Chessher of Mathis, Stacey Christman of Choate and Leslie (Allen) Dunn of Kyle; a brother, Harvey (Barbara) Brandon of Port O'Connor; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted there Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with Pastor Jesse Berthold officiating.
