Merrell Thiede

Merrell "Itsy" Thiede, 79, of Tuleta died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011. Mr. Thiede was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Monthalia to Bonnie (Oakes) and Otto Henry Thiede. He married Florene Holzer in Pettus on Aug. 25, 1951, and was a tool pusher for Fish Oil Well Services. He was a member of the Tuleta Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Bonnie Thiede; and a brother, Bill Thiede. Survivors include his wife, Florene Thiede of Tuleta; three daughters, Darnell (Travis) Scheffer of College Station, Vicki (KoKo) Voss of Levelland and Cindy (Clifford) Bagwell of Tuleta; a brother, David Thiede of Gonzales; a sister, Ann Hessong of Portland; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted there Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15, at 4 o'clock with Rev. Jack Allen and Rev. Trey Scheffer officiating. Musical selections were provided by organist Ann Oliver. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
