Michael Stubenthal

Skidmore Stubenthal Michael Ryan Stubenthal, 59, was born on the 6th of November 1954. He passed away on the 22nd of October 2014 after a short bout with cancer. He is survived by his daughters, Laura and Leslie Stubenthal, brother, Ralph Stubenthal and nephews Kyle and Hollis Stubenthal. Mike graduated from Skidmore Tynan High School and then attended Bee County College. After graduating from BCC, he transferred to Texas A&M where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He spent his life raising and caring for cattle in the Skidmore area. He was a devout Roman Catholic and member of St. Joseph's Church in Beeville. Born legally blind, Mike was faced with numerous challenges his entire life. He always strove to do the best he could and was unafraid of any task. With that same spirit, he accepted his recent diagnosis of terminal cancer as just another obstacle to get through. He loved the time he spent with friends and family. We would like to thank our family and friends for the help and support received these last few weeks. You have been priceless. Thank s also to Dr. Jeff Arnoult with Houston Eye Associates, Hospice of South Texas and Woodridge Rehab Center. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Cortez, Scott Cornett, Larry McAlister, Paul Orchard, Bryan Stridde and Charles Herzog. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2 p.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houston Eye Associates Foundation, 7155 Old Katy Rd, Suite N 100, Houston, Texas 77024.
