Mildred Johnson

MILDRED ROSE JOHNSON GOLIAD - Mildred Rose Johnson was born May 9, 1942 in Cheapside and was married to James Leroy Johnson Sr. on April 26, 1963 and passed on Dec. 17, 2009 in Goliad at her home. Our beloved mom was preceded in death by our father, James Leroy Johnson Sr. of 46 years in marriage (Goliad); parents, William and Stella May Taylor Davis; brothers William (Jr.), Winston, and Delton Davis, all of Gonzales. Mildred is survived by her son, James Leroy Johnson Jr. (Carolyn) and Eric; three daughters, Nancy Evon Lubbock (Kirk), Jennifer Rose Johnson (fiancé, Leighton Lassmann) all of Goliad, and Brenda Sheblak of Victoria. Also surviving are three beautiful grandchildren, Rebecca Lyn Johnson, Bethany Gail Lange, and Dakota Shelbak; mother-in-law, Ima Johnson Whitfield of Goliad; and our friend and caregiver, Francis Tijerina. She also has three sisters, Edith Haschke (Victoria), Kathy Haschke (Kenneth) of Harwood, and Viola Harter (Harold) of Baton Rouge, La.; and one brother, John Davis (Sandy) of Mission Valley. Mildred was a beloved wife, mother, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Baptist church and had a passion for flowers, especially roses of any color. Pallbearers will be Curtis Gruetzmacher, Joe D. Johnson, Mark Davis, Ty Haschke, Kenneth Davis, and Ronnie Davis. Honorary pallbearer will be Benny Garza. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Goliad (361-645-3126). Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 20, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Goliad with Pastor Jay Flemming officiating the services. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Goliad under the direction of Galloway & Sons Funeral Home of Beeville. Special thank yous to Dr. Tyson Meyer-Palliative Care Center of South Texas and caregivers Francis Tijerina for her wonderful friendship and love for our family.
