An angel came and called her name and took her by the hand, and said her place was ready in Heaven far above, and that she'd have to leave behind, all those things she dearly loved. Murline Cherry passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010, surrounded by her family. Murline was born on July 7, 1922, to George and Murl Cole in Carmona, Texas. She married her best friend, William Cherry, on March 17, 1943, in Groveton Texas. A funny fact about that day is that the couple rode in a hearse to the church to get married. It was the only ride they could find. They settled in Pettus, Texas, to start their life together. William worked in the oilfield, and Murline became a housewife and started their family of four. Murline was an avid fisherman. She and William spent many days at the lake, pond or anywhere else they could put a line in the water. It was something they both enjoyed doing. Other passions of hers were playing 42, with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband of 50 years, William; parents, George and Murl; 5 brothers and 5 sisters; son-n-law, Wayne Johnson; granddaughter, Patti McJunkins; great-grandson, Brice "Boo" Knight Jr. Murline leaves behind a brother, Bill Cole of Orange, Texas; daughter, Lois Johnson of Bridge City, Texas; daughter, Rebecca Denning of Pettus, Texas; son, William Dell Cherry and wife, Lynne, of Hemphill, Texas; and daughter Ola Greene of Hemphill, Texas; nine grandchildren, Kip {Amy}, Jeff, Paula {Brice}, Ray {Angie}, Adam, Christine, Michael, Laura {Ronnie}, and Colton: seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Bobbi, Kyle, Caleb, Lauren, Ashton, and Emma; and one great-great-grandchild, AnnMarie. Family would like to thank Dr. Mitchell, Blue Bonnet Nursing Home and Nurses in Touch for the wonderful care. To sum it all up in six little words: "Now smile one more for me." A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 21, 2010 @ 10 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send a donation to your favorite charity.
