Nell Marshall

Nell Marshall, 95, a longtime resident of Beeville, passed away early Thursday morning on January 17, 2019 in La Garita, Costa Rica. She was born on January 7, 1924 in Hubbard, Texas to the late Travis Cuvier and Mary Ann Freeman Montgomery. She and her husband, the late Clarence William "Toots" Marshall, were married on December 20, 1947 in Victoria, Texas.

Following graduation from high school in Hubbard, Texas, Nell attended Durham Business College in Austin, Texas. Nell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beeville.

While a resident of Beeville, Nell worked as an employee of Lack's Furniture Store, served as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church, and worked as a bookkeeper for the offices of James R. Dougherty.

Nell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who joyfully spent endless hours in homemaking and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed serving in the church, playing piano, and singing hymns with her brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her husband.

She is survived by her sons and their spouses: Monte Paul and Laura Jean Marshall of Fredericksburg, Texas; Michael William and Marcella Marshall of Atenas, Costa Rica; and Clarence Matthew and Yoli Marshall of Weslaco, Texas. Nell is survived by four grandchildren and their spouses: Brian Scott and Kara Marshall, James Allan Marshall, Joshua Saul and Jordan Garza, and Monica Sabrina and Brandon Murphy. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gene Montgomery of Victoria, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Beeville, Texas (106 E. Cleveland) on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 2 p.m. to be followed by the interment of her ashes in the Glenwood Cemetery, also in Beeville.
