Nelson Theodore Denson "Ted" was born in Mineral, Texas on 28 June 1926. He passed from this life on 22 March, 2010, at the age of 83 yrs, 8 months, 22 days. Long time resident of San Antonio, Texas, and Beeville, Texas, he was the oldest son of Guy & Dea Denson. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Guy H. Denson and Dea Ivie Denson, his wife Floy Lee Denson, his oldest son William Lee "Billy" Denson, and a son-in-law Gary Nunnallee. He is survived by sons, John Ray Denson and wife Judy of San Antonio, Texas, Bobby James Denson and wife Alice of Poteet, Texas, and Michael Richard Denson and wife Karen of Hurst, Texas; daughters, Shirley Ann Nunnallee of La Vernia, Texas, Mary Lynn Arnn and husband Lue Arnn of Boerne, Texas; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Denson of Converse, Texas; twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great grand children; one sister, Frances Louise Duncan and her husband Bob of Pleasanton, Texas; one brother, Hubert D. Denson, and his wife Celeste of San Antonio, Texas; one uncle, Dr. R.A. "Lonnie" Ivie and wife Irene, of Ft Worth, Texas and a multitude of very dear nieces and nephews. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ since age 11 and was presently a member of the Adams Street Church of Christ in Beeville, Texas. Ted served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from Jan 25, 1945 to October 25, 1946, and was stationed in the Philippines, at Okinawa and Japan. When Ted returned from his service in the Army he married Floy Lee Hunter. Together they raised six children. Ted worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad for years, mostly at night so he could work at his used car business during the day. During the last few years of his working career he was a railroad official over the rail yard in San Antonio. After his retirement in 1986, he moved to Beeville, Texas and built his present home on the old home place. There he continued to work as he did when just a boy on the farm raising cattle, and baling hay. Visitation will be Friday, March 26, 2010 from 6pm to 8pm at Galloway & Sons Chapel at 409 N. Tyler St., Beeville, Texas. Services will be Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2pm at the Adams Street Church of Christ at 1701 N. Adams Street, Beeville, Texas. Internment to follow at Mineral Cemetery, Mineral, Texas under the direction of Galloway & Sons Funeral Home, in Beeville, Texas.
