Nona Trois Bonifay, age 95, surrounded by family, left this world on December 19, 2014 to go to be with our Lord. Trois was born in Taft, Texas on September 6, 1919 to Vernie R. & Lillie Glasson. She was a graduate of Taft High School and attended Draughons Business College in Corpus Christi. She married Loren Council in Taft on November 13, 1938. Two children were born to the union. The family moved to Beeville when Loren changed jobs in 1950. Trois was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Beeville and was active in many church activities. Her Sunday school class was especially important to her. Trois worked at the Commercial National Bank for 25 years as an assistant cashier and note teller. After her retirement, she volunteered as a "pink lady" at the Christus Spohn Hospital and also worked as a volunteer in the prison ministry for the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernie & Lillie Glasson; brother, V.R. Glasson, Jr.; sister, Melba Standlee; husbands, Loren Council and Don Bonifay; and a grandson, Vernie Frank Council. She is survived by her loving daughter, Camilla and husband Tom Palmer of Beeville and her loving son, Jody Council and wife Sandy of Goliad, Texas. Stepsons, Donnie (Cathy) Bonifay of Odessa and Randy (Ellie) Bonifay of Dallas. Her five grandchildren, Randy (Denise) Palmer of San Antonio, Lori Jo (Dennis) Walker of Robstown, Josh Council of Goliad, Jeffrey (Joni) Council of Victoria and Elizabeth Trois (Eric) Bartee of Missouri City. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren, Rachelle, Amanda and Ashley Palmer, Savannah, Allie, Hailey & Shelby Walker, Stephanie, Madeline & Joseph Council, Jordan, Jessica & Jett Council, and Logan, Brody & Victoria Bartee. Visitation will be at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home on December 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am on December 27, 2014, also at the Galloway and Sons Funeral Home with interment to follow at Beeville Memorial Park. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Seraphic Sisters and the staff of the John Paul II Nursing Home in Kenedy for their loving care of Trois over these last years. Memorials in her name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Beeville or to the John Paul II Nursing Home.
