Norman Lamar Jostes, 83, passed away on April 18, 2017. He was born on December 27, 1933, to Herman and Ella (Mengers) Jostes in Tynan, Texas. He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. He served in the United States Army and on May 14, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mildred Norma Schmidt in Mathis, Texas. Mr. Jostes was a Senior Vice President for the First National Bank, retiring after 41 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing and was in the Hand Bell Choir. He also served in several lay positions at the church. He was past president of the Grand Lodge Sons of Hermann for 14 years and was past president of Hochheim Prairie Lodge for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Arlen Jostes. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Jostes of Beeville, Texas; two sons, Lamar (Heidi) Jostes of Plano, Texas and Scott (Shannon) Jostes of Flower Mound, Texas; brother, Lynwood (SuAlice) Jostes of Sherman, Texas; sister-in-law, Margie Jostes of Tynan, Texas; six grandchildren, Luke, Lillyan, Sean, Chance, Erin and Sailor; four great-grandchildren, Charlie, Hayes, Alabama, and Jackson; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Shiner City Cemetery in Shiner, Texas and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Beeville with Pastor Dean Fleming officiating. Music will be provided by soloist, Caroline Heizer and organist, Cassie Krueger. Pallbearers will be Ed McKay, Leonard Pawlek, Bobby Wingenter, Jimmy Moore, Lamar Jostes and Scott Jostes. Memorial donations may be made to FUMC Building Fund.
