Patsy (Robertson) Petrus, aged 99, of Beeville, Texas passed away on November 3, 2024. Born on August 11, 1925, Patsy was a woman of quiet strength and profound dedication to her family.
Throughout her life, Patsy was a pillar of support and love for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored immensely. Patsy attended Odem Elementary and completed her education at Odem High School in Odem. She chose to dedicate her life to her family as a full-time mother, a role she embraced wholeheartedly and performed with unconditional love and patience.
In her personal time, Patsy had a passion for reading, horse racing and gardening, particularly tending to her roses. Although macular degeneration in her later years hindered her ability to read, her enthusiasm for horse racing and gardening remained undiminished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva (Howard) Robertson and Granville “Skoot” L. Robertson; her husband, Julius L. Petrus Sr.; sister, Theresa Robertson; and sons-in-law, Steve Hidell and Bill de Vaudrecourt.
She is survived by her sister, Hilda West; daughters, Kathy Hidell, Mary de Vaudrecourt and Angie Bownds (Johnny); and sons, Julius Petrus Jr. (Linda), Ronnie Petrus (Diann) and Keith Petrus (Cathi).
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matt Petrus (Kim), Will Petrus (Kara), Molly Thomas (Rob), Paige de Vaudrecourt, Ashley Guerrero (Fernando), Sommer McKee (Peter), Lanna Pekar (Dwayne), Reagan Bownds, Garrett Bownds (Whitney), Josh Petrus, Zach Petrus and Major Joseph (Jaime); and 25 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to honor Patsy’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 8 at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful and caring ladies at the Gramman House and Exclusive Home Health and Hospice and Schulz & Wroten Pharmacy. A special thanks, too, to Ruby Gonzales for always helping out when we needed her.
