Philip Heard



Philip John Heard passed away at his home, in Austin, on May 28, 2017. He was 60 years old.

Philip was born on April 7, 1957, in Houston. His family moved to Beeville in 1959. He was a 1975 graduate of A.C. Jones High School, received his Associate Degree from Bee County College and also attended St. Edward’s University, in Austin. He married Susan Hardy in 1977, and they had two children. Philip loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and camping. He was also an avid gun collector. Philip was often found reading, especially about Texas history. He had a great sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, James Power and Marguerite Domingues Heard; his brother, Brian Patrick Heard; his sister-in-law, Frances Lebourveau Heard; and his nephew, Reagan Glen Hardy.

Philip is survived by his son, Taylor Michael (Jennifer) Heard; his daughter, Mairin Reagan Heard; his baby granddaughter, Kathleen Heard; and his brothers, James Heard, Mark (Jean Marie) Heard and Paul (Debbi) Heard. He is also survived by seven nieces, three nephews, and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, June 2, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary recited there that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Beeville, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Heard, James Heard, Mark Heard, Paul Heard, Power Heard, Mark Heard, Jr., Campbell Heard and Danny Hummel.
